An emerging engineering professional in Potsdam, New York, John Allison brings more than a decade of work experience to his career. Most recently, Mr. Allison completed an internship with the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), the authority charged with running New York State’s electricity grid and administering its wholesale electricity markets. In this position, John Allison developed software validation plans which helped improve NYISO’s Transmission and Congestion Contracts (TCC) Automated Market System.
John Allison earned a bachelor’s degree in alternative and renewable energy systems from the State University of New York, Canton, before going on to earn a second bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. Prior to his internship with NYISO, he completed a co-op and internship as a train control team engineer with General Electric Transportation. Previously, he served in the real estate, construction, and hospitality industries.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Allison maintains a diverse range of interests which include tennis, guitar, and home improvement projects. An avid traveler, he has utilized his French and Russian language skills in trips throughout Europe, North Africa, and Asia.
